The Clerks Office
“The clerk of the tribal court is to maintain the records of the court and perform the duties prescribed by the judge and by law. The duties include but are not limited to:
● keeping all books, papers, and records filed by the court
● keeping an index to the court docket as provided by law
● keeping a record of all monies collected on fees, fines, bonds, and restitution
● issuing receipts for all monies, fees, fines, bonds, and restitution collected
● keeping records of payments made on orders of the court
● issuing processes and notices allowed by law to be issued
● attending hearings of the court and hearings in chambers when required by the judge
● issuing and maintaining a record of qualified jurors
● keeping a record of the attendance of jurors and witnesses
● preparing documents, orders and correspondence for the court as may be required by law or by the judge
Paris Underwood, is an enrolled member of the Colville Confederated Tribes, he is also Quinault and Yakima. Paris began working for the Clerks Office in August of 2022. Before accepting the Clerks position for the Quinault Tribal Court, Paris previously worked with the Spokane County Juvenile Court in Spokane Washington. He worked for a Level One Trauma Center in Spokane Washington and worked for the Colville Tribal Public Safety Division. He received his A.A. from Spokane Community College. His B.A. from Eastern Washington University in Criminal Justice with a Minor in Criminal Justice, Indian Studies, and Healthcare Administration. He received his Master of Legal Studies in Indigenous People’s Law with a focus in International Indigenous People’s Law from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
Cheri J. Quilt, Tribal Court Clerk ll is an enrolled Quinault Tribal member and began in the
Clerks Office in September 2019. Job duties: Criminal, Juvenile and Traffic cases
Experience: Tribal Clerk Training, 2023 and Tribal Court Clerk Training, 2021
Education: Grays Harbor College, Blackfeet Community College, graduate Chemawa Indian School.
