1. If I receive a Notice of Infraction (i.e., no insurance, speeding, no seat belt, etc.), how much time do I have to respond to the infraction?

You must respond to the infraction 30 days from the date it was issued or 33 days from the date the notice is mailed to the Court. There are 3 ways to respond to an infraction and all are listed on the infraction you have received.

2. What happens if I do not respond to the infraction?

After 30 days the Court will find that you committed the infraction and enter a Default Judgement.
The determination will be final unless a motion to reconsider is filed with the court.

3. If I choose to pay the infraction or appear at a hearing and enter into a payment plan what options do I have for payments?

The court accepts payments by cash, check or money order. Payment can be brought into the Clerk's office or mailed to Quinault Tribal Court, P.O. Box 99, Taholah, WA 98587.The Clerk's office also accepts payments by phone by debit or credit card up until 3:30 pm each day. To make a payment by phone call (360) 276-8215 ext. 2220 or ext. 1013.

4. When are Judgements sent collections?

If you received a Default Judgement and are an employed by the Quinault Indian Nation, an entity of the QIN, or receive fishing income and you do not satisfy the judgement within 30 days the monetary amount of the judgement will be garnished from your wages. If you are not an employed with the QIN, the judgement will be sent to Fairway Collections.
If you appeared at a hearing in regard to your infraction and entered into a payment plan and do not make timely payments and you have not contacted the Clerk's office the remaining amount of your judgment may be sent for garnishment or to Fairway Collections.
